As we all know the work day can be exhausting. It always seems that after you’ve indulged in lunch you feel drained. You can barely keep your eyes open as you gaze at the clock ready for the day to finally be over. After going through the same motions day after day you are probably asking yourself “how can I combat this fatigue?” Snacks can actually help prevent dips in your blood sugar which can be the reason you’re feeling tired. Here are some healthy afternoon snacks that will give you the energy you need to finish the day!

1.  Everything Tastes Better with Peanut butter!

When it comes to healthy snacks full of flavor I like to stick to the basics; and who doesn’t love a little peanut butter to give your veggies a little boost of flavor!? Peanut butter may get a bad rep from some but rest assured it has the good fat! It is also packed with vitamins and can help you lose weight by keeping you full longer. So, if you want to prep a healthy afternoon snack before work you can slice up some apples, bananas, frozen mango, celery, carrots, or tomatoes and bring a little container of peanut butter to dip them in. It will give you a little kick to continue your day.

2.  Fan of Almonds or Walnuts? Perfect!

Almonds and walnuts are a perfect snack. Both are packed with fiber, nutrients, vitamin E, and omega-3s. They are loaded with the good kind of fats your body needs which will help you stay full and give you a boost. Be careful though because too much of anything is never good. Moderation is always key and It’s easy to scarf down these down. So, if you do eat these as your healthy afternoon snack make sure to measure out the recommended serving size which is 1 ounce (size of an empty Altoids tin).

3.  Who Doesn’t Love Hummus?

Another popular snack is vegetables or crackers with hummus. There are TONS of different recipes for hummus. Whether you would like to make your own the night before and have complete control over what’s going in it, or just picking it up at the store. Hummus is an awesome yet tasty snack. The most common vegetables used with hummus are red/green peppers, cucumbers, carrots, celery, and tomatoes. Whatever your preferred vegetable is I’m sure you can find a batch of hummus to pair it with.
